Cloud vs Self-hosted¶
Both run the same software and the same interface — a bot, a script or a backtest works identically either way. What differs is where it runs, and how much of it you get.
The plan comparison is the source of truth
Limits change as plans change. For the current, authoritative numbers see the plan comparison. The figures below are a summary.
Hosting and operation¶
| TradeServer Cloud | TradeServer (self-hosted) | |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting | Hosted by HaasOnline | Your own infrastructure, or Managed Private Cloud |
| Setup | Instant — just log in | Install and configure it yourself |
| Maintenance | Managed by HaasOnline | You manage updates and servers |
| Access | Web browser | Web browser plus local access |
| Scaling | Automatic | You scale the server |
| Billing | Monthly or annual subscription | Licence, plus your hosting costs |
Capacity and limits¶
Cloud is sold in three plans — Starter, Standard and Pro — and the self-hosted TradeServer plan sits above them. So this is less a cloud-versus-self-hosted split than a question of where each plan sits.
| Starter | Standard | Pro | TradeServer | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Trade bots | 3 | 8 | 20 | 100+ |
| Open orders per bot | 15 | 25 | 50 | 150 |
| Backtest history | 1 month | 6 months | 12 months | 36 months |
| Dashboards | 3 | 10 | 25 | 50+ |
| Tick interval | 10 seconds | 10 seconds | 10 seconds | 5 seconds |
| Labs test depth | — | 1 month | 1 month | 12 months |
Some capabilities are off on Starter and included from Standard upwards, on every plan above it:
- HaasLabs
- Market Intelligence
- Manual trading
- Export settings and data
- AI agent access (MCP)
Which to choose¶
Choose Cloud if you want to start immediately, want updates and infrastructure handled for you, and the plan limits fit how you trade.
Choose self-hosted TradeServer if you need full control over the machine, have compliance or data-residency requirements, or want the highest limits and the faster tick interval.
If you want that control without running hardware yourself, self-hosted can be paired with Managed Private Cloud, where HaasOnline provisions and operates a dedicated instance for you.
