Good to know and troubleshooting

Good to know

How it runs

  • HaasOnline needs to be running. On most exchanges the take profit and stop loss are held by HaasOnline rather than placed on the exchange. The panel says so when that's the case.
  • Exits are market orders, so the fill price can differ slightly from the level.
  • Some exchanges can't be used yet. Where an exchange can't take the market order an exit needs, the confirmation refuses the Smart Trade and nothing is placed.

Levels and exits

  • Levels must be on the right side of the price. A level the price has already passed is refused.
  • Levels marked ~ are provisional. For market orders they're recalculated from your actual fill price.
  • A part-filled entry keeps its Smart Trade. The take profit and stop loss cover the amount that filled.
  • Removing a Smart Trade doesn't cancel a waiting entry. It stays on the exchange and can still fill, unprotected.
  • Close or reduce with Close now and Reduce to keep the exit and its PnL in Smart Trade history.
  • PnL in Smart Trade history is before fees. It's worked out from the fill prices; the fees are shown in the Trades list.

Orders and limits

  • One Smart Trade per futures position. That is one per market on a one-way account, and one long and one short on a hedge-mode account; edit it rather than creating a second. On spot the same applies unless you switch on lots: up to 20 per market.
  • At most 50 live Smart Trades in all, across all your accounts, futures included.
  • Lots share the wallet. Coins sold or moved outside a Smart Trade are taken from tracked coins first, then from the newest lot. Older lots still sell in full; the newest lot ends Reduced when its own exit fires.
  • PnL is measured from the exchange's average entry, so it matches the exchange, even for a trade you took over.
  • Waiting adds are canceled when the trade closes at its take profit or stop loss.
  • On futures, a Smart Trade follows the exchange position. Contracts you add on the same side become part of it.
  • Hedge mode. On a hedge-mode account, the Smart Trade panel follows the side of your ticket (long or short).
  • You get a message when a Smart Trade closes your trade. The Trades list and Smart Trade history show the details.
  • Closing orders can't be a Smart Trade. Reduce only, Exit long / short and spot sells turn the Smart Trade section off.

If you see this, do this

You see Why What to do
The Smart Trade toggle won't switch on The order is set up to close a position: Exit long / short, Reduce only or a spot sell. Choose an opening Direction. If you meant to close, carry on.
"The price is already past the stop loss" The level has already been crossed. Choose a level on the right side of the current price.
"Nothing changed · The levels could not be moved" A new level was already past the price. The old levels are still in place. Pick a valid level and move again.
Create says there's nothing to take over No open position in that direction, the amount is too large, or it's already a Smart Trade. Check the account, market, direction and amount, or edit the existing Smart Trade.
Protection is waiting for your entry Your limit entry hasn't filled. Nothing. The take profit and stop loss start when the order fills.
This position is not protected, with a reason The take profit and stop loss have stopped. Read the reason; set new levels if you still want them.
This Smart Trade can't be covered The entry filled, but what it bought is below the market's minimum at the exit price, or there is nothing to cover. Nothing is watched. Use Close now to sell what it bought, or Remove if it bought nothing.
"Close now was refused by the exchange" The exchange turned down the closing order. Nothing was sold; the stop and targets are still in place. Read the reason on the row.
Reduce offers Close now instead What's left would be below the market's minimum. Reduce less, or use Close now to sell everything.
"Lot limit reached" The market already has as many lots as Lots per spot market allows. Close a lot, or raise the setting.
"... is selected, so this order would not open a new lot" An existing lot is picked in the Lot selector. Pick New lot to open another, or use Add buy on that lot.
"... ended Reduced" Coins left the wallet outside the Smart Trade. Nothing to undo. See when your wallet runs short, and sell coins with Reduce or Close now.
A Smart Trade vanished from the active list A target or the stop was reached, you closed the position, or you removed the levels. Check the Trades list (Source Smart Trade · ...) and Smart Trade history.

Vocabulary

Term What it means here
Smart Trade A manual trade with a take profit and stop loss attached, watched by HaasOnline.
Protection The word some buttons and messages still use for a Smart Trade's take profit and stop loss.
Target One take-profit level. You can have several, each closing its own share of the position.
Close % The share of the position a target closes when it's reached.
Fixed / Trailing stop A stop that stays where you put it, or one that follows the price as it moves in your favor.
% / USDT mode Whether you type a level as a distance from your entry (%) or as an exact price in the quote currency.
~ (provisional) A level worked out before the fill. For market orders it's recalculated from the actual fill price.
Covered The amount of the position the take profit and stop loss apply to.
Can't be covered A Smart Trade whose entry filled but whose amount is below the market's minimum at the exit price, or that has nothing to cover. It watches nothing; Close now or Remove ends it.
Add buy / Add sell Buying more (or selling more on a short) for a Smart Trade that's already open.
Create (take over) Attaching a Smart Trade to a trade that's already open on the exchange. Nothing is bought or sold.
PnL The profit or loss so far, measured from the exchange's average entry price.
Reduce / Close now Selling part of a Smart Trade, or all of it at market, while keeping it in Smart Trade history.
Fills The list of everything that has filled for a Smart Trade, with the average entry after each fill.
Lot One of several Smart Trades on the same spot market and account, with its own levels and name.
Unclaimed Coins in the wallet that no lot or tracked holding on this market claims. Lots on other markets that use the same coin are not subtracted from this figure.
Tracked coins Coins a Smart Trade bought whose take profit and stop loss were removed. HaasOnline still counts them.
Reduced The trade ended having sold less than it held, for example because coins left the wallet outside the Smart Trade. The reason is shown with it.
Reduce only / Exit long, short Orders that close a position rather than open one. They can't be a Smart Trade.
